Rhys Bell is born and bred in Wellington of European and Maori (Ngati Porou) descent. Brought up around music Rhys was introduced to DJing through a youth nightclub Dr John’s which Tee Pee was the resident DJ and asked Rhys to fill in.  This opportunity inspired him to DJ as a career.
Now Rhys has been DJing for over 20 years and continues to DJ at various clubs and events. He has had involvement with the longest running Hip Hop radio Show in New Zealand,TheWednesday Night Jam since 1984.

Furthermore Rhys organised Aotearoa’s first MC Battle in 1987 and the Wellington DJ Battle in 1996.
In 1989 Rhys entered into the Auckland based Numark DJ Competition which was won by an Auckland DJ, this motivated him to practice and in 1990 Rhys B won this very first NZ DMC Competition.  He became the first DJ to represent Aotearoa on the International Stage.
